Forrester Park prides itself as a traditional 'club' course, run on traditional club membership lines, with accuracy more important than distance, judgement more important than strength and the amateur golfer more in mind than the professional golfer. New golf members are welcome and we have a wide range of Golf Club memberships on offer.

In addition to having an active social side, Forrester Park runs a full programme of fixtures, from the formal Essex County competitions to the casual summer Wednesday evening 9 holes and Friday evening roll-ups. Every Bank Holiday the club hosts a mixed competition. Forrester Park welcomes golf societies and green fees. Buggies and trolleys are available for hire.

PRO'S HOLE-BY-HOLE GUIDE

Golf club, greenfees, golf societies, golf coaching, Essex, Maldon1st: A challenging start at any course is the first hole, but this is made harder as you tee off so close to the clubhouse - is anyone watching?! This makes the easy par 5 much more difficult. If you're nervous, keep it left - mature trees all up the right; careful of the well-placed pond right of the green though.

2nd: A medium-length par 3 guarded by bunkers all around the green. This green may look flat but subtle breaks on this green can catch you out; be sure and stick to the line you have picked.

3rd: A great miss on this hole is left, as you stare down the out-of-bounds posts that hug the right edge of the fairway. A tough hole, and don’t think you'll get away that easily, the green is a tricky one.

4th: As straight as you can point is what you need your golf ball to do down this par 5, longer hitters can reach in two but much safer to play this as a three shot hole. Remember a 2 tier green awaits you.

Golf club, greenfees, golf societies, golf coaching, Essex, Maldon5th: A downhill par 3 with two steep-faced bunkers around the green. The hardest par 3 on the course; make your par and run - this is a scary one.

6th: A let-up from the last hole, with this short par 4 running at only 272 yards not the longest of par 4’s. But don’t get complacent with this hole; a nasty bunker 50 yards from the green can turn this into a tough one.

Golf club, greenfees, golf societies, golf coaching, Essex, Maldon7th: The definition of risk and reward. A dog leg right par 5 is what you are faced with. You are left with a decision: take on the corner and maybe get on in two? Or play it safe and go around the corner. You must pick the right line if you take it on, but if you don’t hit it well a watery grave may await your ball.

Golf club, greenfees, golf societies, golf coaching, Essex, Maldon8th: The hardest hole on the front 9, a tough drive into an upslope where precision is needed far more than power. UNDER? Or OVER? That is what awaits your second shot. Come and play it to find out!

9th: A short par 3 onto an undulating green; as it runs from front to back it is very difficult to keep your ball on the green. Club selection is important and check for cross-winds as you're very sheltered from the tee.

Golf club, greenfees, golf societies, golf coaching, Essex, Maldon10th: A tough start to the back 9. Tough drive to a sloping fairway from left to right. Make sure you pick the right club for the second as this approach is down hill, take a club less, make sure you hit it well as the trees pick up any balls that are short.

Golf club, greenfees, golf societies, golf coaching, Essex, Maldon11th: A downhill par three, one of the easier holes on the course. Golf balls stop quickly on this green that slopes from back to front.

12th: ONLY 335? Must be easy then. Nope! Stroke index one. Out of bounds all up the right hand side. You need a well positioned tee shot to attack the pin correctly. Well positioned trees overhang just short of the green; can you hit it over in two? If you doubt you can you had better layup. If you have shots on this hole you need to use them.

Golf club, greenfees, golf societies, golf coaching, Essex, Maldon13th: This is my personal favourite hole. Two deep bunkers overpower your thoughts on this hole as this is all you will be looking at. Concentrate and focus on the pin, hit your shot and hole the putt. Picture that the bunkers are not there.

Golf club, greenfees, golf societies, golf coaching, Essex, Maldon14th: At 311 yards it's a fairly short par 4, for everyone this easy hole is a let up from the rest of the course and you can pick some valuable shots up here.

15th: A right-left par 4. You need to hug the right side of the fairway to see the green; anything left and you will be blocked out by the trees.

16th: 451 – easy par 5......look at your card again - its a par 4, a monster hole. This hole however can play very differently depending on where the pin is; this is because it has one of the longest greens on the course. I don’t care who you are, two of your Sunday best are needed to hit it on in regulation.

Golf club, greenfees, golf societies, golf coaching, Essex, Maldon17th: A tight drive awaits you on this penultimate hole. Believe me there is a fairway down there somewhere, trees left, ditches right. Rumours have it you either have to turn sideways or walk single file down this fairway because it is so narrow. Find the fairway and you will be fine.

18th: The closing hole is a generous par 5. You've done the hard work, just finish off the job. Small target at the end of the hole and a new run-off area and pot bunkers left of the green.

Golf membership, golf club,Essex,Maldon,Tiptree,Witham19th: The bar- a job well done!
