Welcome to Forrester Park
Set in beautiful Essex countryside, Forrester Park Golf and Country Club is an idyllic venue for weddings and special occasions, with an 18-hole golf course, four tennis courts, an indoor swimming pool and its own gardens within the grounds. Located in the village of Great Totham, near Maldon, Forrester Park is within ten minutes drive of Maldon, Tiptree and Witham and mid-way between Colchester and Chelmsford in the heart of Essex.
THE HISTORY OF FORRESTER PARK
In 1932, Mary Muir bought ‘Withs Farm’, a 16th Century barn, and moved in. In 1968 her son, Douglas Forrester-Muir, read an article which predicted a boom in the golf industry. Together with his wife Susie and son Tim he set about designing and building a golf course around Withs Farm. This involved the family eating quantities of Victoria Plums in order to use the tins as hole cups, Susie sewing home-made flags which were attached to bamboo canes, and the recruitment of blind war veterans to make all the tee mats.
A year later the Grand Opening of the 9-hole course took place. Greenfee money was put into a Quality Street ‘honesty’ tin and the price was 10/- a round.
In 1975 Forrester Park became a golf club, run by Susie and Tim following Douglas’s death. Between them they did all the mowing and cooking, taking it in turns to run the bar at lunchtime.
in 1982, Forrester Park held a wedding reception for a couple from Great Totham, the first of many.
Branching out into another area, in 1984 two tennis courts were built and the Tennis Club was formed.
Then, in 1990, another 9 holes were built (not, this time, single-handedly!), the club acquired a practice ground and, the following year, two additional tennis courts were built.
In 1992 the clubhouse was extended to include the upstairs Forresters Restaurant and a few years after that, the club acquired a licence to hold weddings and civil ceremonies.
The most recent addition has been Forrester Park Swimming Pool in the grounds, which specialises in children’s lessons and aqua aerobics.
Forrester Park now has over 40 staff, an 18-hole parkland golf course, four tennis courts, a swimming pool, a restaurant which caters for all types of function and a licence to hold civil weddings. However, it still retains its original feel as a friendly, family-run business.
WHAT WE OFFER
WEDDINGS: Forrester Park is the perfect venue for your wedding or reception. We can offer exclusive use of our self-contained funtion suite with its own dining room, dance floor; you may also wish to use the traditional oak-beamed clubrooms, which open through French doors onto the patio and gardens.
GOLF: The golf club features an 18 hole, par 71 parkland golf course, 300 yard practice ground, par 3 loop and practice putting green. We have a range of golf memberships, greenfee offers and golf society packages. Our golf professionals offer golf coaching for all ages and standards.
TENNIS: Tennis membership includes full use of our four all-weather tennis courts and excellent clubroom facilities. Our tennis professional offers tennis coaching for all ages and abilities.
PARTIES: We welcome all sizes and styles of party, and are happy to tailor your celebration to your budget.
DINING: Based around a 16th century Essex barn, the traditional-style clubhouse offers a warm welcome and excellent facilities. The oak-beamed clubrooms are open daily to both members and non-members, offering a wide-ranging daily menu and fully-licenced bar. Forrester Park also offers a traditional Sunday lunch every week.

Forrester Park is open daily, serving food all day from 7.30am. Closing times are as folllows:
January: 4.30pm / February: 5pm / March: 6pm / April: 7pm
May: 8pm / June: 9pm / July: 9pm / August: 9pm
September: 8pm / October: 6pm / November: 5pm / December: 4.30pm
